Kayaking

We’ve taken up kayaking. We bought a kayak on Bob’s birthday, and took it out that weekend.

These photos are of our trip from Hespeler millpond up to Black Bridge.

Our next trip was from the confluence of the Speed and the Eramosa, further on up the Speed past Goose Island.

When you’re down at water level, you can see a lot more wildlife. Red-winged blackbirds, snapping turtles, dragonflies, and fish.

And today, we did a very short trip on the O:se Kenhionhata:tie (Grand River) — there were a lot of rocks and shallow bits. We saw a red-necked grebe with six or seven babies. I’ve just identified it from the list of birds in Ontario.

This view reminded me of paintings by Homer Watson or John Constable.
