Hard to believe that it’s already Lammas and the indiscriminate slaughter, destruction, famine and cruelty is still going on in P a l e s t i n e.
Here the wheat 🌾 and maize 🌽 is ripening in the fields and there has been loads of rain and everything is green. We have harvested some runner beans from the garden. Elsewhere in the world there are floods and fires from climate change chaos.
In G a z a, a water tower built with funds from Canada was bombed, one of the world’s oldest churches was bombed, and two more journalists were deliberately killed. There’s a risk that the war will escalate further. The official death toll is now 40,000 but it’s more likely to be five to ten times higher. Governments, especially the United States government, must stop supplying I s r a e l with bombs and military equipment to perpetrate this horror.

And to you as well. Here, the rains are a longing and smoke from fires filled the air yesterday, a grim reminder of human folly. But in the garden we have cabbages, wax beans (runners on the way), summer and winter squash, and tomatoes and cucumbers on the vine. Blessed abundance of the earth, which shows starkly the nonsensical consciousness of lack that turns to grasping, greed and fear, which turns to hate, a monster that derives nourishment from its own flesh.
